Certified Nursing Assistant
What is it?
This course prepares the adult learner for an entry level position
in the health care setting. Specifically, the course provides nursing
assistant training. Nursing Assistants perform functions and procedures
relating to personal hygiene, safety, nutrition, exercise, and elimination
needs of patients. Related functions include lifting and moving patients,
helping promote physical comfort, and collecting specimens. The nursing
assistant may also assist with admission and discharge of patients
and vital sign monitoring. This course is approved by the
Arkansas State Board of Private Career Education and the Office of Long
Term Care. After a certificate of completion is awarded successful candidates may sit for the state written/skills certification
exam. This course is
a prerequisite for the Multi-Skilled Aide program.
How long is the course?
This course is taught in an 90 hour session. In days, this equals
three weeks of training.
When is the course taught?
Day and night classes are scheduled throughout the state. Nonetheless, we suggest you check
with the registrar when signing up for the course to see if evening
classes are available.
Before I decide, how would I know if this course is for me?
If you are a person that likes to work with the elderly or you like
to take care of those who are unable to care for themselves, this
may be the course for you. Also, this course is a great precursor
to any nursing program. You are taught basic nursing skills in this
course.
I don’t know if I can pay for this course. Is financial aid
available?
In most cases, there will be a financial aid program that will fit
your circumstance. When registering for the course, the staff will
make you aware of what is available.
After I graduate, where can I work?
Certified Nursing Assistants can work at hospitals, long-term care
facilities (nursing homes), hospice agencies, home health agencies
and short term staffing agencies.

Phlebotomy Technician
What is it?
This course prepares the adult learner for an entry level position
in laboratory science. Specifically, the course provides training
in blood collection and related techniques and testing. Phlebotomist perform functions and procedures relating to blood collection via
venipuncture or micro-technique for both adults and children. Related
functions include pick up for a variety of clinical specimens, specimen
delivery and storage, central processing of specimens, maintaining
accurate log records and/or worksheets and glucose tolerance procedures.
This course is approved by National Phlebotomy Association and the
Arkansas State Board of Private Career Education. Successful candidates
may sit for the national certification exam Also, a certificate of
completion is awarded. This course is a prerequisite for the Multi-Skilled
Aide program.

This course is taught in a 15 hour session. In days, this equals
one week of training. The course is also a part of the Multi-Skilled
Aide program.
When is the course taught?
At many of our sites, we have both day and evening classes. Check
with the registrar when signing up for the course to see if evening
classes are available.
Before I decide, how would I know if this course is for me?
If you are a person who would like to work with people in a clinic
or outpatient setting, this may be the course for you. Also, the
phlebotomy technician works with blood, if this does not bother you,
again, this may be your course.

available?
In most cases, there will be a financial aid program that will fit
your circumstance. When registering for the course, the staff will
make you aware of what is available.
After I graduate, where can I work?
Phlebotomy Technicians can work at hospitals, blood donation centers/clinics,
insurance companies (draw blood from applicants) and independent

EKG Technician
What is it?
This course prepares the adult learner for an entry level position
in the health care industry. Specifically, the course provides training
in electrocardiography. EKG Technicians are responsible for performing
routine electrocardiograms as well as any procedure related to the
position delegated by the physician or nurse. Related functions include
preparing the patient for testing, operating the EKG machine, recording
strips within the patients permanent record, ordering supplies and
maintaining equipment. If the technician is assign to a telemetry
unit, the technician is responsible for recognizing and report abnormal
patterns. This course is approved by the National Health Careers
Association and the Arkansas Board of Private Career Education. Successful
candidates may sit for the national certification exam Also, a certificate
of completion is awarded. This course is a prerequisite for the Multi-Skilled
Aide program.

After I graduate, where can I work?
EKG Technicians work may work at hospitals in the emergency room
or on the telemetry unit. They may also be a part of the cardiopulmonary
department at a hospital. Sometimes independent clinics that do physicals
employ EKG Technicians. |

Multi-Skilled Aide
What is it?
This course prepares the adult learner for an advanced entry level
position in the health care industry. Specifically, the course provides
training in nursing assisting, phlebotomy, electrocardiography and
professional development. The multi-skilled assistant can be employed
in a variety of health care settings. The MSA performs all the duties
associated Certified Nurse Assisting, Phlebotomy Technician and EKG
Technician. This course is approved by the National Health Careers
Association and the Board of Private Career Education. Successful
candidates may sit for state (C.N.A.) and national certification
exams. Certificates awarded include CNA, Phlebotomy, EKG and CPR.
How long is the course?
This course is taught in a 130 hours. In days, this equals about
four and a half weeks of training.
When is the course taught?
At many of our sites, we have both day and evening classes. Check
with the registrar when signing up for the course to see if evening
classes are available.
Before I decide, how would I know if this course is for me?
If you are a person that likes to work with people of all ages and
walks of life, this may be the course for you. If you would enjoying
working in a variety of clinical settings and are easily adaptable
this may be what you’ve been looking for.
